"It was like a scene from a movie. A woman in red dress with a brim hat walking like a dancere across an alley that leads directly to the entrance of the center. She is Okinawan living in Ireland who makes trips back and forth from one continent to another. Like a champuru opera, things started to flow when people gathered and came into a circle, mixing and combining, making Okinawan diasporic connections. *Pictured are visitors from 7/16/22.
Currently, the center operates by appointments only. Though limited, we are grateful for having a steady stream of new and repeat visitors come to the center. In the last few weeks, we welcomed over a dozen of individuals from the U.S., Ireland, Japan and within Okinawa Islands to connect, share and exchange ideas as well as to explore possibilities and opportunities for future projects.
In this precarious time, we create a different present and future through the power of radical imagination and making Okinawan connections.
